American Legion Post 39 invites you to our Taylor Unity Beer and Barbecue
Our country is going through some tough times, so the goal of this event is to bring Taylor neighbors together and celebrate the idea that our diversity is our greatest strength. Free BBQ, beer, and sodas provided.
The American military is one of the biggest and most diverse organizations in the world, and the American Legion is committed to supporting individuals of every color.

6:00 - 8:00 PM
6:00 PM - BBQ, beer and water served
7:00 PM - Live music
8:00 PM - Event concludes
Our veterans fought alongside each other regardless of race, and that unified effort helps make our military strong. We are all in this together, and we will continue working together to make America a better place for the next generation.
At Murphy Park, there will be plenty of room for social distancing, and we also ask that you wear masks when not eating/drinking. This is not a political event, and there won't be any speeches. This is just an old fashioned Legion BBQ and the whole community is invited!
4TH OF JULY 2020
Independence Day Parade
10:00 - 11:30 AM
Like many events in 2020, the traditional Independence Day Parade in the City of Taylor will have a bit of a different flavor this year. The City is working with officers at the American Legion, Graham D Luhn Post 39, who have traditionally organized the parade, to plan a vehicle-only event that will allow participants and observers to practice COVID-19 social distancing and safety protocols consistent with recommendations from the CDC and local health officials. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to noon.
While this year’s parade will not include many of the elements that Taylor residents have enjoyed in past years, it will have a longer route so that more people can celebrate from the safety of their own yards. Decorated vehicles, led by the City of Taylor Fire Department, will follow a 10-mile route that will begin at the Naomi Pasemann Elementary School parking lot (2809 North Drive) and end at Murphy Park (1600 Veteran’s Drive).
To sign up to be a parade participant, visit: https://bit.ly/2020TaylorIndependence
*Note: There are only slots for 30 vehicles from the community, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis among qualified entries. Entries must be received by Sunday, June 21, at 5 p.m. to be considered.*
